Help · Signed documents and verification
Verify a document
Check that a saved PDF still matches the document completed through LulaSign.
Anyone can verify a LulaSign document. No account is needed. Open Verify a document from the menu at the top right (under Help), or Verify a document under Quick tools on the Dashboard, or go to the verification page on the LulaSign website.
- Find the signing record: enter the verification code printed on the document or its certificate, or the serial printed on a LulaSign stamp (it starts with ST-, for example ST-7Q4MK-2K9PX).
- Check the signed PDF: choose the PDF file, or all the PDFs in the pack, that you want to check.
LulaSign compares each file's unique digital fingerprint with the one it recorded when the documents were locked.
The digital seal in a PDF reader
LulaSign also certifies every completed PDF with a digital seal of its own. Open it in Adobe Acrobat or another PDF reader and the signature panel shows it certified by LulaSign Document Seal; any change to the file afterwards breaks the seal. If the reader calls the seal unknown or not trusted, see Why a PDF reader says the seal is not trusted.
Stamps
Every stamp applied through LulaSign gets its own serial. The signing record lists the stamps on the document: each serial, the stamp's name, who applied it and when, and the page. Look up a serial and that stamp is marked as the one you looked up. A serial is only found once its document is finished.
A rubber stamp can be copied. A stamp serial can be checked: if it is not found, or the record does not match the document in front of you, the stamp did not come from that signing.
What the results mean
- Exact match: the file is the same as the completed document, byte for byte.
- Does not match: the file has been changed since it was completed, or it is a different document. Even re-saving or printing to PDF changes the fingerprint, so ask the sender for the original copy.
- Bundle check incomplete: some PDFs matched but others are missing or did not match. Add the remaining PDFs from the pack.
- No record: no record was found. Check the code or serial was typed correctly. Serials do not use the letters I, L, O or U, so a 0 that looks like an O is read as 0.
Verification proves the file has not changed. It does not give legal advice about whether a document can be signed electronically.
