How long documents are kept
Why downloadable files and the proof of completion have different retention periods.
Updated 19 October 2026
LulaSign keeps two different things, for different reasons.
- Downloadable files, the original and final PDFs, are kept in temporary storage for a period set by your plan. After that they are deleted and the request shows Storage expired. Download your copies before then.
- The completion record, meaning the verification record, fingerprints and essential security and transaction records, is kept after the files are deleted. That is why a document can still be verified later.
Drafts that are never sent are also removed after a period of inactivity.
The Signed documents page (its Expiring soon tab) and each request show when files will expire. Higher plans keep completed files for longer; the pricing page compares them. For the full policy, see the retention page in the legal section of the website.
To keep documents for longer automatically, connect external storage so completed documents are delivered to your own storage.
