Decline to sign
How to decline a request you received, and what happens next.
Updated 19 October 2026
If you should not sign, for example because the document is wrong or the request is not meant for you, you can decline.
- On the signing page, choose Decline.
- Give a short reason. The sender sees it.
- Confirm Decline to sign.
Declining stops the request for everyone and cannot be undone from your side. The sender is told, and may send you a corrected request.
If you have a LulaSign account, a request you declined stays listed under Received, on the Closed tab.
If you approve documents rather than sign them, you reject the approval the same way.
If you think the request was sent to the wrong person, you can also click Lula on the signing page, choose Message the sender's team and select This was sent to the wrong person.
